So yesterday I was texting with my mother while LittleJohn and I were having our lunch, picnic style, on the kitchen floor. We've done this several times in the last week. You see, previously I was feeding him in his exersaucer, but he's gotten very tall and heavy, and can lean so far over the edge of it now I'm worried he'll flip it right over when I turn away to get another spoonful of food. So we moved to the table, and were feeding him while seated in a bumbo on a chair (like a booster seat), but he's too big for the bumbo, now, too. It's hard to get him in and out of it, and he'll figure out how to get himself out very soon! So, that left me sitting on the floor with him while DH and I discuss how to resolve our high-chair-less woes.
My mother immediately offered to buy a high chair for the baby's 1st birthday, but send it right away through Sears. It sounded like a lovely offer, so DH and I took a look at what they've got available:
Each of these chair/boosters has it's benefits.
The mauve Fisher-Price model has the greatest versatility with regard to growing with the baby. It also has the highest weight cap (at 50lbs) which might come in handy, the way LittleJohn has rushed to his first 25lbs! The Chico clamp chair has a removable, machine-washable seat cover, and folds up, which would make it easy to carry around and travel with, so we could use it at restaurants and friends' and family homes. The main draw-back is that it's weight cap is 37lbs, and I'm not certain how quickly LittleJohn will reach that. The other Fisher-Price model is also a travel booster that folds up and can be packed around in a shoulder-carry bag. It's biggest selling point is that the eating surface is removable and dishwasher friendly! The feature synopsis on the Sears site doesn't mention what the weight limit is, though.
I've forwarded this information to LittleJohn's Nana, and we'll be reviewing whatever choice arrives!
