What I'm Working On Wednesday #1

I'm starting a new tradition here at the Both-At-Home blog: What I'm Working On Wednesdays.  I'll post a photo and a brief discussion of projects I'm working on around the house.  (Full disclosure: I totally got this idea from Kris over at Resweater.blogspot.com -- I just recently discovered her and am totally in love with the ideas she throws out into the blogosphere!)

This being my very first "What I'm Working On Wednesday," I've got a big pile of what probably appears pretty crazy to share.  Let me explain myself, from left to right.  On the very far left, toward the back, you'll see a black, blue and grey, and a turquoise greenish stack of fabric.  Those are polar fleece windbreakers I rescued from a bag headed to the garbage, though there was nothing wrong with them.  They will be cut up and hopefully recycled into several diaper covers for my little one.  Then nearby there are two rolls of white fabric, one fairly fat one and one fairly skinny one.  The skinny one will be a pair of "long woolens" for LittleJohn, recycled from the sleeves of a striped white sweater.  The fatter roll will become another diaper cover, cut from the same sweater.  I actually cut enough from that sweater to make two diaper covers, one of which is already assembled (photo below, baby wearing white.)  Then You'll see a dark green, light blue, and another dark green roll. One of the dark green rolls will be another pair of "longies" style pants, from the sleeves of a 100% cotton shirt that is being repurposed, and the other, along with the light blue fabric, are being sewn into cloth diapers, similar to some I've made before (I currently have three, and I'm liking them so much, I have decided to make ever so many more as I find appropriate fabric for them! Photo below, baby wearing turquoise.) Next to those rolls is the last roll, which is destined to be a pair of flat-front dress pants for LittleJohn, cut from a pair of slacks that had to be retired.  The striped sweater I will probably cut down into a baby-sized sweater.  The pile of sweaters on the far left draped all over the chair are all going to be unravelled and added to my stash for future knitting projects.  You'll see the one I'm actively knitting there in the photo on top of the striped sweater.  It's bright pink.  Yes?  You see it?  Remember it.  There is a long story that will accompany it, and I will most likely share it with you all some Wednesday when it is (hopefully) finally finished!
